Hello & Welcome
Thank you for your interest in this key strategic role with Plymouth CAST Multi Academy Trust. As Chair of the Trust Board, I’m delighted that you’ve taken the opportunity to find out more about us and our plans for the future.
Within this microsite, I hope you’ll find all the information you need to inspire you to join – and lead – our Trust as the new Chief Executive. The role offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a proven leader to use their skills, knowledge and experience to lead, develop and inspire the work of the Trust, at both strategic, and operational levels.
This is an extremely important appointment for us all. The successful candidate will be joining us at a crucial time in our journey to becoming a highly-regarded Multi Academy Trust (MAT) serving the diverse communities across the South West. All our stakeholders (students, staff, governors and parents) view this appointment as key to their future success. You will be heading a dedicated and supportive team and will have the opportunity to shape the way the Trust governs, supports and leads its 36 schools. This is an exciting opportunity to impact positively the education of 8000 students in a mutually supportive and caring community.
As with all roles of this nature, with great opportunities come some challenges. The Trust was recently the subject of a focused Ofsted review. The outcomes of this review highlighted some clear areas for development across the Trust, and our new CEO will be key in continuing to drive forward the necessary improvements, in partnership with the Directors/ Trustees and the wider Trust team.
To ensure success, the CEO will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and understanding of the education sector needed to shape and drive forward the MAT to meet the demands of the education landscape in the future. You will be an outstanding and innovative leader; a creative and forward-thinking professional and critically a colleague who can consolidate and build the Trust’s achievements over time.
The role is high profile: you’ll need to bring a deep understanding of how to improve complex organisations at pace. You will bring proven skills of negotiation, influence, and communication, that will be required to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including the Regional Schools Commissioner, the Education Skills Funding Agency, and the Local Authorities across the Diocesan area.
We are a Catholic MAT with a strong Catholic ethos and one in which our faith permeates all we do. We are also a very inclusive community with more than half of our student body being from other faith backgrounds and with significant numbers of both looked-after children and those with special educational needs.
We are passionate about improving the learning environment for all our young people and giving them the tools to cope with every aspect of their lives, educationally, socially and in their relationship with God. We need to ensure that every child makes the greatest progress of which they are capable. Your commitment to these aims is paramount.
These are exciting times, and as you read on you’ll learn more about how we work and our future plans. For now, I hope you’ll be intrigued to know more. If you have any questions about the role please do speak with our advising consultants at Navigate, Helen Stevenson and Jo Fish, who would be delighted to have an informal (and confidential) conversation on either 0207 637 5007 or 0113 287 8445.
